This website serves as a companion piece to the new Interpreting the Lives of People of Color furnishing plan at Arlington House, The Robert E. Lee Memorial. Our objective is to expose the complexities, contradictions, and popular misconceptions of enslaved life in the American South through the interpretation of a select few Arlington House residents. Hopefully, this website, and the furnishing plan that supports it, fosters an even more inclusive narrative at Arlington House and brings the National Park Service into the vanguard of participatory museum experiences. Feel free to explore and comment.
